Homeless

Now they came to Jericho. As He went out of Jericho with His disciples and a great multitude, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the road begging. 47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”  Mark 10:46

Today they do not cry out as Bartimaeus did, they are silent most of the time except to ask for change, or, silent in despair.  They get beaten, set on fire, urinated on by revellers, arrested and made into criminals for begging.

Drug dealers leave them free samples to get them hooked, they take them to blot out the desperate situation they are in.

As well as food, sundries and love we also take Jesus to them, we have to let the Light of our Saviour shine through us, a beacon of hope for their lives.

Is it dirty and smelly?  YES.  Have our Hearts been wrenched inside us?  YES.  Do we get wet and cold? YES.

Would we give it up?   NO.   Our Saviour walks with us and His Most Holy Spirit guides us.

And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’  Mathew 25:40
